Paint correction, sometimes referred to as "cut & polish" is a procedure that removes imperfections in automotive paint. The process involves using a high speed tool to remove small amounts of clear coat to reveal a perfect new surface, the same technique can also be used on single stage paint, although extreme care must be taken.

It all starts with preparation, to effectively and safely perform paint correction on a vehicle certain steps need to be followed, these include: visual inspection of the paint under LED lighting or in direct sunlight, paint depth reading using a paint gauge tool and paint decontamination.
